We have a diverse multicultural team of dedicated, experienced, and highly qualified staff in the field of reproductive medicine. Our staff speaks English, Arabic, Chinese, Filipino, Hindi, Hungarian, Nepali, Polish, Portuguese, Romanian, Russian, and Spanish. Our physicians are Board Certified in Reproductive Endocrinology and Infertility (REI) and/or in OB/GYN with more than 25 years of experience in fertility. Most of our embryologists have at least 5 years of experience, and our senior embryologists have each been practicing for more than 33 years.

Dr. Peter Chang is a Board Certified Reproductive Endocrinology & Infertility (REI) who specializes in treating infertility, recurrent miscarriage, and fertility preservation. Dr. Chang was the Division Chief of REI at Beth Israel Medical Center and Founder/Director of Beth Israel Center for Infertility for 15 years before joining Rockefeller Fertility Center.

Earning a baccalaureate degree in Cybernetics at UCLA, Dr. Chang obtained his medical degree and OB/GYN residency at the University of Texas in San Antonio. He did his fellowship in REI at Columbia University in New York and obtained his board certification in OB/GYN in 2002 and Reproductive Endocrinology and Infertility board certification in 2003. Dr. Chang is also an ad-hoc reviewer for the journals Fertility & Sterility and Human Reproduction, the American Society for Reproductive Medicine's Abstract Program Committee, and the Society for Gynecologic Investigations’ Abstract Program Committee.

Dr. Chang has written more than 70 published journal articles, abstracts, and textbook chapters, and has received numerous research grants and publication awards.

Jeffrey Steinberg, MD

Dr. Steinberg, the U.S. Institutes Director, carried out his initial training at Bourne Hall Clinic at Cambridge University in England, the birthplace of In Vitro Fertilization!

Dr. Steinberg worked with Drs. Patrick Steptoe and Robert Edwards, the original British pioneers of In Vitro Fertilization. Shortly after, Dr. Steinberg worked in Australia at then, the world’s most successful IVF programs. Our team then returned to the U.S. to establish the third program in the United States.

We have remained at the forefront of modern advances in infertility care, all the while maintaining the highest degrees of scientific credibility and avoiding the temptation of sensationalism associated with the levels of success we have enjoyed.

Khaled Zeitoun, MD

Dr. Khaled Zeitoun is a board-certified OB/GYN and Reproductive Endocrinology & Infertility (REI) specialist with over 30 years of experience in the field; he is one of the few Reproductive Endocrinologists with expertise in major gynecologic surgery. Using minimally invasive techniques, Dr. Zeitoun specializes in surgical procedures that increase the likelihood of pregnancy, including fibroid removal, operative hysteroscopy, tubal surgery, tubal reversal, and procedures for endometriosis. Dr. Zeitoun is also internationally recognized for his unique experience in creating fertility protocols that fit the specific religious and cultural needs of patients and their families. As a native Arabic speaker, Dr. Zeitoun’s patients travel from countries around the world seeking his expert care.

Dr. Zeitoun graduated from Alexandria University Medical School in Egypt and completed his residency at Harlem Hospital in New York, he then completed his fellowship training in Reproductive Endocrinology at the University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center and received multiple grants to conduct advanced research in the treatment of endometriosis and infertility.

Galina Karpenko, MD

Named among the nation’s best teaching residents in Obstetrical and Gynecological Survey

Dr. Galina Karpenko is a Board Certified physician with over 25 years of experience in reproductive health and infertility treatments. Dr. Karpenko graduated with a medical degree in Russia and completed her residency there in obstetrics and gynecology. She has done extensive research in the field of female infertility and worked with a team of pioneers for tubal reconstructive surgery in Russia.

Dr. Karpenko also worked as a clinical manager and IVF coordinator for an IVF Program in New York City, before completing her residency in Obstetrics and Gynecology at New York Methodist Hospital. She was named among the nation’s best teaching residents in the Obstetrical and Gynecological Survey. Dr. Karpenko’s research paper on Thrombophilia and Assisted Reproductive Technologies won an award from New York Obstetrical Society in 2006.

Dr. Karpenko joined the American Fertility Services in 2006 as a Medical Director of the Egg Donation Program where she successfully treated thousands of infertility and gynecologic patients.
