What is an Egg Donor?
Egg donation is the process by which one with ovaries (an egg donor) donates her ova, or eggs, so that a couple or individual may have a child. The ovaries are stimulated with hormones and medications to increase the maturity and quantity of healthy eggs.
The process is regulated by the FDA as tissue donation. Recipients or intended parents have parental rights over a resulting child. This is an incredibly rewarding and heartfelt experience for donors and the intended parents.
